Abstract
The influence of castor seed extract on the corrosion behaviour of mild steel in a mineral acid medium was investigated through potentiodynamic polarization analysis. Electrochemical tests were performed at ambient temperature across several inhibitor concentrations to assess variations in metal dissolution kinetics. Corrosion parameters were obtained from the extrapolated Tafel profiles, enabling comparison between uninhibited and inhibited systems. The findings reveal that mild steel experiences pronounced degradation in the absence of the extract, whereas the introduction of castor seed constituents progressively suppresses corrosion, demonstrating effective surface protection within the acidic environment
